CLIMATE CHANGE METHANE EMISSIONS

  • The pipeline will expand Vermont’s reliance on fossil fuels that increase Green House Gases (GHG) and accelerate Climate Change.
  • Unburned methane is 64 times more powerful as a GHG than CO2 over a 20 year time span
  • Pipeline compressor and pipeline cleaning stations are a major source of methane emissions.
  • Natural gas mining, transport, and use also produce carbon monoxide, ammonia, nitrogen oxides, and organic gases

[notice]Natural gas results in either similar or greater global warming-relevant-emissions than coal—“natural” gas is not clean.[/notice]
